The City of Frankfort hosts historic preservation expert Bob Yapp for a two-day spring workshop focused on aspects of historic preservation.

Join City of Frankfort Planning & Community Development and Special Projects staff for a two day historic preservation workshop, April 17-18. April 17’s workshops include:

  • 9:30 AM: Are You the Paint Police or Preservation Collaborators? Learn effective ways to work with people living in local landmarks and historic districts.
  • 10:30 AM: Walking Tour of North Frankfort. Get a tour of some of Frankfort’s historic buildings on the North side of downtown.
  • 11:30 AM: Preservation Doesn’t Cost, It Pays. Lunchtime workshop. Hear from Bob Yapp about the economic benefits of historic preservation.
  • 1:30 PM: Additions that Work! Participants learn how to build an addition onto the house that fits with the existing historical infrastructure.

Lunch is provided by TTs, Tacos and Tortas. Register for the full day of Friday workshops or the lunch workshop only.

April 18th’s workshop is a hands-on workshop focused on Exterior Wood Repair. Utilizing a historic downtown building, participants will learn how to save money and time by repairing old rotted trim, columns and spindles rather than replacing them. This workshop is limited to 12 participants and lunch will be provided. Workshop runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
