Administrative Aide

The City of Frankfort seeks qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Aide in the Public Works Department.  Primary position responsibilities include:

Answering telephones; taking messages; assisting callers

  • Typing, filing, and record keeping for the department
  • Processing all department requisitions expenditures, purchase orders
  • Tracking of department budget
  • Making travel arrangements
  • Ordering office supplies for staff and maintains inventory
  • Creating and typing specifications for bid purchases
  • Assisting with payroll and timekeeping responsibilities
  • Maintaining department personnel records, inventory and vehicle records
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail for the department.

Requirements of Position:
Education:  High School graduate or GED.  Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferable.

Experience: Three years of administrative support experience. College or technical school may substitute for the three years of experience (Thirty semester hours for each year of experience).

Special Requirements:  Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases.  Must be versed in business formatting for various types of communication.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Public Works Tech I/II

 

The City of Frankfort’s Public Works Solid Waste Department seeks qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Tech I or PW Tech II.  Primary position responsibilities include:

 

  • Performs general construction and maintenance duties
  • Responds to complaints or requests for information from customers
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records
  • Provide for safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Assist other departments and/or agencies in repairs, maintenance, or cleaning duties
  • Ensure work area is clean and all equipment and tools are properly stored after use
  • Perform preventative maintenance, make minor repairs and recommend major repairs on equipment or vehicles
  • Recommend to supervisor equipment, tools, supplies and materials for purchase
  • Assist contractors working on projects as required
  • Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies such as weather events, etc.
  • Operates light and medium vehicles and equipment
  • Assists in performing public works duties in other Divisions if needed
  • Makes minor repairs on vehicle and equipment
  • Reports major repair needs for immediate correction
  • Insures proper maintenance (including preventive maintenance) is performed on vehicle and equipment as scheduled
  • Maintains clean and sanitary buildings, vehicles and equipment
  • Collects refuse on assigned daily route and places in collection vehicle
  • Collects and processes recyclable materials
  • Reports customer complaints to proper authority for investigation and disposition
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of Position:

Education: High School or equivalent. 

Experience: Previous experience not required.

Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License at time of hire.  Must be capable of working periodic overtime and available to work on-call as scheduled.  Must be capable of understanding oral and written instructions. If hired as a Tech I, is required to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement, within nine (9) months of hire date.  A tanker endorsement is preferred, but not required. Failure to achieve this requirement will result in termination of employment.
