The Planning and Community Development Department has just completed a Certified Local Government grant-funded project to document local Black history along with the significant buildings and sites in the community that are part of that story. We want the story of Frankfort to be inclusive and to highlight the significant contributions of many individuals whose stories have not yet been widely told. We will use this report to better document our built environment and assist with long-term preservation planning, including updating existing National Register of Historic Places nominations and developing new ones. We hope it can also be valuable to assist with developing new ideas for heritage tourism and for use as a local educational resource. We invite you to take a look, and share it with others!
